Hi. We’re the Foolish Couple.  I am Andrew and Minna, Functional Nutrition Specialists and Success Coaches. We created Foco Academy to help you navigate through the new normal so that not only will you survive, but you will thrive in this new normal in terms of your health, relationships, and whole life success.

For us, the pandemic is probably one of the best things that has manifested in our lives. Because, thanks to the perceived dangers of the coronavirus, many of us are now working at the comfort of our own homes. And the past 16 months has been great and we plan on working from home now on.

The beauty of working from home is that we get to see each other more, our cats love being around us, we eat healthier and our sleep pattern is also more consistent.

But there is also a downside to working from home. Our homes may be comfortable, but it may not be the safest place to work. I don’t mean intruders and thieves. And it probably does help prevent you from catching the coronavirus, or any virus from other people.

But there are hidden dangers that are lurking in our homes that you may not be aware of. And these hidden threats can potentially hurt your body and lower your immune system.

On average, people work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. And if you live in a metropolitan area, your average commute time is about 30 minutes each way. Which means that you spend 9 hours a day for your job. And now that people are working from home, some people are actually contributing their commute time back to work. Meaning, they are working a full 9 hours a day at home.

We spend a lot of time, at least 8 to 9 hours a day, sitting in your chair. So if sitting is the new smoking, that means that you are smoking all day long, at the comfort of your own home. And that is definitely bad for your health. What’s worse is that there is no water cooler at home. And I’m not saying that water cooler chat is good for you. But I’m referring to the water.

Yeah, that’s right. Are you staying hydrated by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day? If you are not, you’re probably dehydrated. Even if you are that disciplined, good person that consistently drink 8 glasses of water a day, is your water actually clean? Sure, your water may look clean. I hope you’re not drinking murky water. But most of the public water sources contains a lot of toxic metals, pesticides, and chemicals.

When we first moved to Texas, the first thing we noticed is that the water coming out of the tap has a high level of chlorine. We can literally smell it coming out of the faucet. And it is actually quite common for the public water services to add a lot of chlorine into the water supply because chlorine kills germs. But that doesn’t mean that the water is clean.

These toxic metals, pesticides and chemicals from your water supply stay inside our bodies, slowly weakening our bodies and making us sick.

If you want to know just how toxic your water is, here’s a website that you can go to to check it out.

https://focoacademy.link/EWGwater

Just enter your zip code and it will tell you how many contaminants are in your water supply and whether it exceeds the health guidelines. And, by the way, boiling the water doesn’t remove these metals and chemicals.

I strongly suggest that you go to the EWG website and check out the water quality where you live. For us, the first improvement we did to the house is to install a whole house filtering system. The home systems has a carbon filter and ion exchange that will filter out most of the contaminants. But not all. And you can get a water tester to see for yourself what the difference is.

But we didn’t stop there. We also have a water softener and a reverse osmosis system so that pretty much everything bad is removed from our water, and we know that we are drinking clean, healthy water.

If you are already drinking clean water, that’s awesome. But here’s the second hidden danger in your home.

Bleach, Clorox, Lysol, Pine Sol, Mr. Clean, and all those strong household “CLEANERS” that claims it cleans germs and viruses in your homes. Even those damn hand sanitizers that makes your hands feel yucky and weird.

Look, CDC last year published on their website that you don’t need to use Chlorox and Bleach to sanitize every single surface that you’ve touched.

So please just throw them all out. Right now. I’m serious. Pause this video right now and go through them all out. Take them out to the garbage bin so you won’t be tempted to fish them back out later.

But wait. These are cleaners, how are they bad for us? You might ask.

Yes. These household cleaners kills 99.9% of the germs and bacteria. But you don’t need it. Your body will protect you. Your skin is your first line of defense against germs and bad bacteria. But there are also good bacteria.

Good bacteria keeps your immune system working so when you kill 99.9% of all bacteria, you are killing the good bacteria too and your immune system also stops working.

And deep down inside, I think you know this. When you try to take a sniff at the pine sol, bleach and so on, do you feel good and strong and happy and healthy? Or does it feel like it’s going to kill you? The toxic fumes alone are enough to slowly kill us.

Not to mention they are extremely toxic to our Pet Kids like our cats and dogs that are so much closer to the surfaces you clean with these toxic chemicals.

Here’s a clue. If you have gained pandemic weight, if you feel tired all the time, these are signs that your digestive system is not working and it is highly possible that these toxic cleaners are the cause. They also causes brain fog.

Which essentially makes you sick, dumb and fat. Is that what you want?

Look. I know that the TV commercials and the media makes you feel like you need these toxic stuff in your homes. But you don’t. You are strong. Your body is strong. Your body can protect you. You don’t need these toxic stuff to protect you.

Would you bring the mafia in your home because they have guns and stuff and they can protect you? Of course not. You know that in the long run they are going to rob you blind and probably kill you. Treat these cleaners like the mafia. Because that’s what they are to your body.

Instead, just go outside and breathe in some fresh air. Open the window and let the fresh air into your home.

I know that you still have a need to clean your home. We do too. You can make your own cleaners. There are a lot of resources online that teaches you what you need and how to make the cleaners. But if you want to save time, we use proven, healthy alternatives such as the one here.

Also, feed your gut with some good bacteria. Probiotics, kefir, sauerkraut, Kim chi, and other fermented foods are good sources of probiotics and will give you the good bacteria. You can also take a good probiotic supplement such as the one we use here.

I hope by now you’re getting the point. The hidden dangers are things that you cannot see or hear but they are hiding in plain sight all over your home.

The third hidden danger is also something you cannot see or hear and it is also the hardest to protect you from. And that, is EMF, or electromagnetic fields.

I know. We do Zoom calls and Face time and we also Netflix and chill. Of course we need fast internet access. And now that we are working from home, we need to have lightning fast access to the work stuff right.

We get this crazy fast wi-fi routers all over the house and we have wireless gadgets all over the home right? Home pods, echo dots, laptops, iPads, iPhones, security cameras and all the other cool gadgets that you have.

Every piece of electronics has some type of EMF exposure. Even your microwave. And while having a few pieces of electronics may be ok for you, having a boat load of electronics will multiply your EMF exposure.

But how is EMF harmful to you?

Electromagnetic fields are areas of energy that surround electronic devices. The World Health Organization (WHO) explains that the electric fields are created by differences in voltage and magnetic fields are created when the electric current flows.

According to WHO, electromagnetic fields affect us because our human bodies have their own electric and biochemical responses (e.g., nervous system, digestion, brain function, heart function). So exposure to EMFs can interact with your body in adverse ways.

Exposing your body to high EMF’s is like being trapped in a microwave oven. You are that piece of meat that you put into the microwave and cook it, and it comes out dry and dead.

EMF exposure will hurt you slowly, but you can probably feel the difference over the past year.

If you are feeling higher levels of fatigue, stress, if you have trouble sleeping, body aches, pains, if you experiencing brain fog, depression, digestive problems, even infertility and cancer. All these are symptoms of EMF exposure.

But how do you know how much EMF you are exposed to?

There are EMF meters that you can buy such as *this one* here.

https://focoacademy.link/EMFreader

There are a lot of different models out there but this is the one we use when we did this exercise.

All you need to do, is to hold the meter and walk around the house. The meter will scan for EMF exposure and you will see which part of your home has high levels of EMF. Some of the obvious ones are wifi routers, microwaves and laptops. If you happen to live close to some high power utility lines than you definitely need to get a meter and check your exposure.

What can you do to limit your EMF exposure without compromising your super cool fast internet access?

Well, remember the good old ethernet cables? Use those instead of wifi.

Turn off your routers at night when you sleep.

Put your iPhone, laptops, iPads etc outside of your bedroom when you sleep.

There are cases where people lives under high power utility lines and cell towers where the EMF level is so high that will tip the scale on these handheld EMF readers. If that is you, you need to look for a Building Biology environmental consultant (BBEC) or an electromagnetic Radiation Specialists (EMRS) to come out and assess your property. There are things that can shield your home and personal devices that you can wear to protect you from EMF exposure.

We wear a Harmoni pendant to protect ourselves and there are other devices that you can find that will protect you from EMF exposure.

Alright. So, drink clean water, stop sanitizing, and limit EMF exposure. The threats to your home may be invisible but it is very real and harmful.
