Cancer Trends for the Younger Generation
Jun 19, 2019Hi Its Andrew from the Foolish Couple.
The other day I talked about, how the younger generation is getting chronic conditions earlier and earlier.
Diabesity, or people who are obese and diabetic, is now becoming an epidemic problem with the younger generation.
A recent study shows that people aged 25-49 is at higher risk for certain types of cancer than people over 50. These cancers are showing up earlier in life, affecting their quality of life. And these statistics get worse for the next younger generation.
You are seeing younger and younger children that are not just slightly overweight but obese. According to the CDC, the percentage of children and adolescents affected by obesity has more than tripled since the 1970s. When I was growing up, there may be 1 fat kid in class. Nowadays 1 out of every 5 kids is overweight or obese.
In the past, next generations always lived longer than older generations due to new advances in medical technology and drugs.
However with the younger generations getting chronic conditions which lead to dangerous chronic diseases earlier and earlier, things may change.
This may be the first time in history that the younger generation lives a shorter lifespan than the older generation.
If they do live to be as old, the next generation will be suffering easily 10-15 years more in pain and suffering.
So the question I asked yesterday: when should you start thinking about your longevity.
The answer is that you should start right now.
What are you proactively doing each day, each week, each month, to make sure you live a long life, free of pain and suffering?
Be the black sheep and beat the statistics, this is one case you do not want to be part of the norm. Rather than normal, it’s time to be extraordinary.
