Do men look sexier when they get older? 

Sorry ladies, this one is for the men. But before you leave us, there are a few questions I would like to ask you.

Do you find your men sexier as they get older?

Do you find the older version of your men more attractive? Or do they just look old?

Do you secretly wish that he would age gracefully, like Sean Connery or Robert Downey Jr?

Do you wish that he would look younger AND have the energy and vitality to keep up with you?

 

For the men out there, unless you have good genes like Sean Connery or Robert Downey Jr, chances are, your wife or partner may not find you all that attractive anymore.

 

Have you caught her wandering eyes checking other guys? Well, maybe they were.  It does not mean that they plan to cheat on you. It’s just that we are visual animals and we enjoy looking at beautiful things. And this applies to both men and women.

 

Hi. I’m Andrew from the Foolish Couple. And as I just celebrated my 49thbirthday, and 50 feels like it is just around the corner, it is natural that I am paying more attention to the art of aging. And if you’re like me, maybe you should too.

 To be more specific, as we get older, we become more interested in the art of slowing down aging. Some may call it the fountain of youth.

 

For all the men out there. If you have more wrinkles then Yoda from Star Wars or if you’re looking more like Homer from the Simpsons, that’s probably not very sexy.

 Good news is, you don’t have to look like a combination of Yoda and Homer. If you want to, and only if you choose to, you can look younger and feel younger.

 

What would that do for you? Would that re-ignite that passion with your wife? Would that give you more confidence when you go out and meet new people? Would that make you feel better and sexier?

 

Look, you may think that you are getting wiser as you get older. And you may even be right. But wisdom does not necessarily change your presence. And if you really have the wisdom, you’d know that first impressions are very important in our interpersonal relationships.

 

You may have all the wisdom on the inside, but if you look old, tired, and flabby, then your aura probably sucks too. And I’m not saying this because I am shallow. Well, I don’t really care if you think I am shallow or not. But the fact is, how you look and how you project yourself on the outside has a direct impact on how you feel on the inside.

 

So let me ask you this. On a scale of 1 top 10, 1 meaning you have zero confidence and 10 being extremely confident, where are you with the way you currently look and feel?

 

If you answer is a 6 or a 7,  why isn’t it a 8 or a 9? Personally, I think if it’s not a 10, I suggest that you take some action. Stop lying to yourself that you are just “OK” with the way you look and feel.

Like the AT&T commercials “Just Ok is not OK”. You either look and feel your best or you are not. The sooner you do something about yourself, the easier it is to keep up with your younger looking wife.

 

Don’t wait too long. I know a couple where the husband looks easily 10-15 years older than his spouse even though they are only a couple of years apart. He started freaking out when people went up and ask him, ‘is she your daughter?’

 At that point, he started spending a lot of money on facials, laser procedures or IPL that are not only really expensive but also only has temporary effects.

 

There is a point where it is too little too late.

 

So, before it becomes too late, I have 7 tips for you that may help slow down the appearance of aging and in some cases reverse damage and make you look younger.We are going to share the first one today.

  1.  Sleep - Get 7 to 8 hours of good quality sleep. You see, you are constantly stressing your body throughout the day. Either from your work, your activities and especially when you put food into your mouth. Every time you eat something, you are making your digestive system work hard to digest whatever you put into your body. So the time you sleep is the time when your body can really start to repair all the damage that you done to your body during the day.

Look, I live in the Silicon Valley, swamped with computer programmers and software engineers that claim that they can get by with just 3 to 4 hours of sleep every day. And I’m telling you. That’s why there are so many bugs in your apps and your software. Because when you consistently lack sleep, not only does your brain fog up which essentially makes you dumb and slow, but your skin also retains less water. And that means dry skin. And we all know that dry skin appears wrinkly and old right? Yoda anyone?

 

But when you get a good night’s sleep, you will notice that your face becomes brighter, more alive, you have less wrinkles and fine lines, and those bags under your eyes would shrink, which give you a more youthful appearance. A restful night’s sleep will also give you a sharper and clearer mind.

In other words, when you sleep well, you become smarter and more beautiful. How’s that for a win-win solution? 

 

If you have a hard time getting good quality sleep, here are some things that you can try. I suggest that you set up a sleep ritual, where you sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Get a comfortable bed and pillows, and keep your bedroom dark and cool. For us, we keep our bedroom at around 55 degrees at night. It’s almost like inducing a mini hibernation to our bodies.

 Also, if you have a habit of watching TV, especially the news before bedtime, you have got to stop. Stop watching TV or playing with your phone or tablet 1 hour before you sleep and turn off all electronics around your bed. Because those EMF’s, even though you cannot see it and feel it, they are there and they are affecting your sleep.

 Your bedroom should be used for sleeping and other, well, activities, but not watching TV or playing video games or surfing the web. The blue light emitted from the electronic devices is scientifically proven to stop your body from producing melatonin, which is exactly what your body needs to sleep peacefully.

 

Now, I have 6 more tips on how to look younger and feel younger. But I’m going to save those for next time.
